In a world of heavy metal gone pop and new rock gone sour emerges a collective of musicians poised to renew the spirit of modern rock music. “One step away from the edge” a lyric from Sworn II Silence’s debut single “Disturbance” is the perfect description of this dynamic musical cooperative. Featuring longtime friends and songwriters of the Cleveland, Ohio underground, Sworn II Silence has broken its silence with its first full length album.
“Sworn II Silence exhibits the same ferocity as Mushroomhead, Sw1tched, Chimaira, Erase The Grey, and others, but maintains a strong melodic flair, which doesn’t bludgeon listeners.” – John Gatta, “the morning journal”
The songwriting/lyrical partnership between Lead Vocalist/keyboardist Guy Christopher, and Guitarist/Keyboardist/Vocalist Chad Dennis is further augmented by longtime collaborator and Guitarist/Keyboardist/Vocalist Duane Rutter. The band currently finds their percussionist role filled by longtime friend and co-producer Scott Dall
Released this year, the debut album "Sworn II Silence" is a hard rock masterwork, being lauded by some as the best local debut of 2003. The album, produced by Sworn II Silence and Tony Gammalo, takes several stylistic twists and turns, featuring low key passages for just keyboard and guitar, lounge band undertones, industrial/noise rock influences, elegant vocal arrangements, and a firm rooting in metal, punk and rock. The album features appearances by Shawn May on bass guitar and backing vocals, Ben Schigel and Chad Szeliga (of immortal/virgin records band Sw1tched) on percussion, Adam Halitzka on percussion, and sample artist Art Poling. The album was recorded and produced at Spider studio, in Strongsville, Ohio and finished at Velocity Studio, the band’s own project studio, in Elyria, Ohio.
2003 is shaping up to be a lucrative year for Sworn II Silence as the band returns its multi-faceted multimedia show to the road to let the world see what 9 years of cooperative songwriting and performing can establish. Not exactly seeking a conventional developmental recording contract is allowing Sworn II Silence to focus on the true heart of the music they write. In the process of seeking a duplication/distribution deal with a major or independent label, Sworn II Silence is poised to bury its proverbial boot in the modern music world.
