Mississippi Cactus formed in 1995 as a blues rock quartet in Milwaukee WI. Since then, they have experimented with many genres of music including: funk, hard rock, jazz and world music. Today, the band has a strong groove-orientated feel, with overtones of rockabilly and blues. They incorporate many other styles into this format, and often jam one relentlessly into another. It is clear when listening to the band that their love for improvisation does not outperform their broad range of talent in writing and composition. The Mississippi Cactus live experience is a genuine force in which the band utilizes many local musicians and adapts to the occasion.
