Operation: Love Breaks All the Rules
Last summer, DAVE FALK (singer/songwriter) and JASON GARDNER (producer, drummer) met up in the legendary "1369" in Central Square Cambridge. Dave had the blueprints ready for a songwriting operation. JAY was back from touring with Pamela Means. Dave knew JAY'S work and was sure he could perform magic in the studio as producer, drummer and back-up singer. Over a warm cup of hazzlenut latte, they discussed getting together a group of players to pull off "the sting." Jay knew all the right people for the job.
Jay called in "WES", an expert craftsman of both bass and architecture to lay down the basic song structure. They brought him in inbetween practice sessions for his Paradise show with Balla Tounkara. Next, Jay called in guitarist and electronics specialist "GOODY" (David Goodrich), finding him inbetween shows of the Ani Difranco tour with Erin McKeown. A winner of back to back music awards with Groovasaurus ('97, '98), "GOODY" had the know-how and electronics wizardry to pull off the job. DAVE then called upon "SNATCH" (Jon Natchez), saxophonist for Skavoovie, and love interest/partner in crime, "SPROCKET" (Lisa Housman), winner of the Great American Song Contest.
The group met up at Squid Hell, under the auspices of Expert Engineer, Eric Michael Cohen. The Sting went down, and 14 days, 7 musicians and 11 tracks later, Love Breaks All the Rules was born. Hear for yourself in the song section.
